RIVERS STATE POLICE, NDLEA LAUNCH CAMPAIGN AGAINST DRUG ABUSE TO PREVENT INFLUENCE ON UPCOMING PROTEST

This initiative, spearheaded by the Rivers State PCRC, NDLEA, and the police, aims to educate and safeguard students from the dangers of drug abuse and to prevent a drug-influenced protest.

Speaking at this year’s sensitization program at Rivers State University, Voke Emore, Chairman of the Rivers State PCRC, emphasized the collaborative effort between the NDLEA and the police to achieve a drug-free society.

Emore noted that the primary goal of the campaign is to prevent students from engaging in illicit drug use, with a focus on reaching them early to ensure they contribute positively to society.

Deputy Zonal Commander of NDLEA, Drug Demand Reduction Zone N, Rosemary Ajuzie, underscored the educational aspect of the campaign, emphasizing that the goal is to educate the public on the importance and benefits of a drug-free society.

Ajuzie noted that the timing of the protest was considered to ensure that the campaign against drug abuse effectively mitigates the risk of a drug-influenced protest.

Today FM’s Olawale Sanusi reports that the theme for this year’s War Against Drug Abuse campaign is “On Kolos Not the Way.”
