Spokesman of the Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni disclosed this in a statement obtained by our NEWS DESK.
SP Omoni in the statement tagged, ‘Incident Report’ said, the leader of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit on patrol along Elelenwo took Daniel with one Sergeant Isaiah Ben attached to the 35 PMF Jigawa but on guard duty at an Estate in Elelenwo, who allegedly shot the young man.
The statement adds that on the receipt of the report, the DPO of Elelenwo Police Station, CSP Chima Nnaji immediately ordered that Daniel who was bleeding be taken to the Hospital, but he eventually died and was deposited at the UPTH Mortuary.
Omoni said the DPO after his preliminary investigation transferred the Sergeant and the four Policemen from Anti-Kidnapping to the State CID for further Investigation.
Twenty-two year old Daniel Ikeaguchi was allegedly shot by a Police Officer guarding an Estate on Saturday when he and two of his friends were being chased by personnel of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
In the meantime; the sister to the deceased, Maureen Ikeaguchi has called for justice on the matter.
