Rivers Elders Forum Slams Governor Fubara Over Comments on Peace Walk

Speaking on behalf of the  group, Senator Olaka Nworgu said it is unfortunate the governor misconstrued the peace walk by the people of Obio Akpor in support of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and the police presence at the local government council secretariat.

Senator Nworgu  emphasized that the route of the peace walk did not come close to the hotel, criticizing the governor for using the visit of the Senate Committee on Privatization and Commercialization to malign  the FCT Minister  who supported his rise to the governorship, instead of seizing the opportunity to advocate for peace.

Senator Olaka Nworgu stated that the governor’s actions are creating a state of anarchy in Rivers State. He urged the governor to act within the law and promote peace. Senator Nworgu advised the governor to focus on governance and leave the FCT minister and institutions alone.

Also speaking, former Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Government, Emeka Woke, questioned how the governor could consider a peace walk a call for a state of emergency, noting that similar peace walks by various groups in support of the governor had been conducted without issue.
