Our correspondent, UCHENDU EJIOWHOR gathered from residents of Diobu that the announcement of the ban of vigilante groups was received with jubilation by some persons with questionable characters in the area.
A clergyman, Revered BENJAMIN OKORO told our correspondent that the ban on vigilante group could return Diobu to what it used to be in the past when people could not move about freely without harassed by criminals.
On his part; the Secretary of the Diobu Vigilante Group, PRINCE AMATARI warned that the pronouncement by Governor WIKE would have negative effect in the area, if not reversed.
Our correspondent also spoke with some police officers at the Mile One Divisional Headquarters who also expressed displeasure over the ban on vigilante groups by the Rivers State Government.
The police officers observed that members of the Diobu Vigilante Group have been supportive in the fight against crime in the area.
