Rangers International of Enugu have been crowned champions of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season after a dramatic final-day victory secured their place at the top of the table.
The Flying Antelopes edged Ikorodu City 2-1 in Lagos to seal the title, despite strong pressure from Rivers United, who also won their final match but finished just one point behind in the standings.
Rangers took control of the decisive encounter with an early goal and doubled their advantage in a tense contest that kept supporters on edge. Ikorodu City pulled one back, but the Enugu side held firm to secure all three points and confirm the championship.
The result gives Rangers their ninth league title, drawing them level with Enyimba as the most successful clubs in the history of the Nigerian top flight.
Rivers United’s win in Port Harcourt was not enough to overturn the gap, as they were forced to settle for second place after a closely contested title race that went down to the final day.
Both Rangers and Rivers United are expected to represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League following their strong league finishes.
The triumph further strengthens Rangers’ status as one of Nigeria’s most consistent and decorated football clubs.
