Police in Port Harcourt rescues14 day old from being sold by grandmother

The father of the child, Christian Duru who confirmed the development said he was called by the Operatives of the Division to come take the baby boy who was recovered in Imo State.

 

The mother of the minor Antonia Christopher Joseph while narrating her ordeal said her mother took her to Imo state for delivery when she was due  and connived with the midwife to sell the baby while warning her not to disclose what transpired to anyone.

 

She told our correspondent  Uchendu Ejiowhor that her mother told her fiancé that the baby died immediately after birth.

 

Our correspondent reports that further investigation by the Police led to the arrest of the nurse and midwife in Akwa/Ibom State and the buyer in Imo State.

 

Spokesman of a Human Rights Activist Prince Wiro while commending the detectives at the Trans Amadi Police Station for the achievement, condemned the alleged involvement of some Health personnel in the business of Child trading.
