Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have arrested sixteen suspects accused of terrorising residents in Minna, the state capital. The arrests followed a coordinated house-to-house operation carried out in the early hours of Tuesday in areas identified as crime hotspots. Police said the suspects were apprehended in Angwan-Sarki and Ogbomosho communities after several complaints from residents about harassment, intimidation and theft.
Spokesman of the command, Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed that dangerous weapons including cutlasses, a sickle, sticks and other items were recovered during the raid. He noted that the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. The police assured residents that similar operations would continue to rid the state of criminal elements.
