Pensioners in Rivers State have raised fresh concern over alleged neglect by the state government

 

The pensioners are also not happy over what they perceived as the unwilling attitude of the state government towards the of gratuities, accumulated arrears on initial monthly pension of retirees especially those who were included on new payroll from 2014, 2015 and 2016.

 

The Outgoing State Chairman of the retirees,  EDWARD FESTUS-ABIBO who spoke during a state delegate conference in Port Harcourt expressed regret that pensioners are faced with such challenges when federal government released Paris Club Refund to enable states clear all outstanding pensions and workers salaries.

 

FESTUS-ABIBO also pointed out other difficulties pensioners in the state are made to face.

 

Correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR reports that the newly elected Rivers state Chairman of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, COLLINS IHEANYI-WONKWO did not rule out negotiation as well as approaching the court in seeking for justice over their unpaid entitlements.
