PDP will sanction Wike, other rebels at the right time- Damagum

Damagum who stated this while responding to questions at a media conference in Abuja, hinted that the party leadership will sanction WIKE and others who were involved in anti-party activities at the right time.

This follows calls by stakeholders within the PDP asking Damagum to sanction Wike and others for alleged anti-party activities during the just-concluded general elections.

Damagum, who noted that there was never a time Wike said he is not a member of the PDP, added that the party’s yet-to-be-inaugurated 2023 review committee will present a report and recommend appropriate sanctions against those involved in anti-party activities.

In the meantime, the Peoples Democratic Party, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, to set a date to conduct fresh elections to fill twenty five vacancies in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

PDP said its demand was in line with Section 109 subsection 1g of the Nigerian constitution.

According to the PDP, there is no remedy for the twenty five members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress.

PDP said by virtue of Section 109 subsection 1g of the Nigerian Constitution, the lawmakers vacated and lost their seats after defecting from the party.
