Oyo set to sack six hundred and sixty-two civil servants over possession of fake certificates.

The Commissioner of Information, TOYE ARULOGUN disclosed in a statement that the dismissed workers were found to have presented forged West Africa Secondary School Certificates to gain employment into the state civil service.

The Information Commissioner further disclosed that over twenty thousand fictitious names were also removed from the payroll for civil servants and pensioners in the state.

The findings were made through the enforcement of the Bank Verification Number which exposed the ghost workers spread across the state and local government levels.

The civil servants with fake certificates were uncovered through a verification exercise handled by a consultant, with the local government councils accounting for three hundred and five persons.

The verification of certificates in ministries turned up with one hundred and fifty-two personnel with fake certificates, while one hundred and forty-nine were uncovered in the Teaching Service Commission, and twenty-eight from parastatals.

The Commissioner said the information presented by the Oyo State Head of Service, SOJI ENIADE was adopted by the Executive Council during its meeting on Monday at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan.
