Justice WALTER ONNOGHEN arrived in Port Harcourt earlier today on the invitation of Governor NYESOM WIKE to perform the ceremony, which was broadcast live on national television.
In his remarks at the ceremony, Justice ONNOGHEN said he was excited and proud to identify with the project, which he said would be replicated for judges at the national level.
The CJN also corrected the impression that the Rivers State Government was the first in the country to build houses for judges, stressing that the project unveiled in Port Harcourt was the second in the country.
In his address, Governor NYESOM WIKE underscored the objectives of the Judges Quarters, which he said was in line with the promises he made on assumption of office in 2015.
Governor WIKE charged the judicial officers to reciprocate by the gesture of the state government by ensuring that they discharge their duties as enshrined in the constitution.
The ground breaking ceremony of the Rivers State Judges Quarters was witnessed by an array of judicial officials, including justices from the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal, Federal and State High Courts, as well as National Industrial Court and the State Customary Court of Appeal.
