One thousand Kenyan soldiers return home from South Sudan.

The first batch of one hundred troops landed in Nairobi after the Kenyan Government began pulling out its troops in protest over a decision by the United Nations to fire the Kenyan commander of the mission for failing to protect civilians.

UN Secretary General BAN KI-MOON approved the sack of Lieutenant General JOHNSON KIMANI ONDIEKI after an investigation showed that lack of leadership was responsible for a chaotic and ineffective response during fighting in Juba in July.
