Ogba/Egbema stakeholders fault exclusion from NDDC board

Chairman of the ONELGA Host Communities Stakeholders Forum, Ekperi Nelson, conveyed the group’s position during a media conference held in Omoku.

He emphasized the urgent need for the appointment of an indigene from Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA to represent the interests of oil-producing communities in the NDDC board, stating that the absence of a representative from the region could undermine the commission’s ability to address the specific concerns and challenges faced by the communities.

Nelson also called on the Rivers State government and the state House of Assembly to enact a law, and establish Rivers State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission from the 13 % derivation funds as seen in other Niger Delta states.

On their parts, other stakeholders who spoke to Today FM’s Preye Izogu stated that the people will use all legal means to push their demands after the twenty one days ultimatum given to Government and oil multinationals.
