The Minister of Transportation, CHIBUIKE AMAECHI gave this indication in a presentation at the Second Presidential Business Forum.
AMAECHI informed participants during the event at the Old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa that a Lufthansa plane had its landing gear damaged when it touched down on bad runway.
The Transportation Minister said the aircraft has been grounded at the Abuja Airport over the past three days.
Our correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that the Transportation Minister was responding to concerns about the implications of complete closure of the airport for the duration of the repair work.
He said the Abuja Airport runway was no longer safe for use, adding that government was not repairing but rebuilding a new runway.
