State Chairman of NLC, BEATRICE ITUBO gave this indication during a sensitisation visit to affiliate unions in Port Harcourt.
ITUBO expressed regret that the agitations over non-implementation of workers entitlements in the state have been politicised.
She maintained that if funds accruing to Rivers State were equitably distributed, workers would receive what is due to them.
The NLC Chairman challenged affiliate labour leaders to rise up and defend their various constituencies.
BEATRICE ITUBO said her agitation for a better deal for Rivers workers was not based on partisanship, stressing her commitment is to the welfare of workers.
ITUBO advised leaders not to mortgage workers but to show transparency in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, SSANU, OBI WICHEDU urged the NLC Chairman not to be discouraged by criticism against her leadership of the union.
WICHENDU also disclosed that some members of SSANU who were legitimately employed and deployed to demonstration schools, based on the approval of the Governing Councils Rivers State-owned universities, have been thrown out of job because the state government withdrew from the payment of their salaries over the past one year.
