The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People, MOSOP, has called on Renaissance African Energy to formally present its plans to the Ogoni Dialogue Committee ahead of the proposed resumption of oil production in Ogoniland.
MOSOP President, Andah Wai-Ogosu, made the call in an interview with our correspondent, amid ongoing negotiations between the Federal Government and the Ogoni people over the resumption of oil production in the region.
Wai-Ogosu said Renaissance African Energy, which is already operating in parts of Ogoniland, should urgently make its plans known to the Ogoni Dialogue Committee as discussions on the proposed resumption intensify.
He was reacting to a public hearing organised by Renaissance African Energy in Port Harcourt last week.
The MOSOP President also called on the company to hold town hall meetings across Ogoniland to ensure broader engagement with the people.
He said the meetings would provide residents with an opportunity to understand the company’s plans, operations and proposed activities in the region.
