Nigeria’s Beach Soccer National Team, the Sand Eagles, have intensified preparations for their CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against Ghana’s Black Sharks.
All 20 invited players are currently in camp in Kaduna, where they have been undergoing intensive tactical and technical training at the Murtala Muhammed Square Sports Complex.
The training sessions are being supervised by Coach Christopher Kadiri, while Head Coach Abdullahi Isa is currently with the Golden Eaglets ahead of the WAFU-B U-17 Championship in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The Sand Eagles are scheduled to host Ghana in the first leg in Kaduna on Saturday, October 10, with the return leg billed for Accra on Saturday, October 17. (NFF)
Nigeria returned to the international beach soccer scene two years ago but narrowly missed qualification for the previous CAF Beach Soccer AFCON after losing to Mauritania on the away-goals rule.
The winner of the two-legged encounter between Nigeria and Ghana will secure qualification for the 2026 CAF Beach Soccer AFCON finals scheduled to hold in Senegal from November 7 to 15.
As part of efforts to strengthen preparations, the Nigeria Football Federation is also in discussions with the Senegalese Football Federation to arrange two friendly matches between the Sand Eagles and Senegal.
