More Troubles for South Sudan as Salva Kir Sacks Vice President Riek

You will recall that it was a similar action by President KIIR due to frosty relations with MACHAR that forced the world’s newest country into two years of civil war, from which it is yet to recover.

The latest moves comes two weeks after rival troops loyal to the two political leaders engaged in a bloody conflict in the capital, Juba, which claimed the life of more than two hundred people.

Reports say before the announcement of his removal, MACHAR has not been seen since the deadly clashes.

His place as first Vice President has now been taken over by a former peace negotiator, TABAN DENG GAI who was appointed by President KIIR.

However; the move has been criticised by MACHAR’s supporters but endorsed by others in his party.
