The donation was announced in a statement jointly released by the European Union and the African Union after both sides reached an agreement.
The EU commended countries of the Lake Chad region for the progress made over the past months in ensuring a coordinated regional response to the Boko Haram insurgency, through the Multinational Joint Task Force.
It expressed the hope that the agreement would further strengthen the regional coordination of the Boko Haram response.
Based on the agreement; the EU would be providing transport and communication assets to the MNJTF headquarters.
It would also facilitate effective coordination and command of military operations to prevent Boko Haram’s ability to move across borders.
