Law Professor takes on FG,says FG not waging war against corruption effectively.

Professor NLERUM OKOGBULE said failure to prosecute high profile corruption cases has been a major hindrance in efforts to recover looted public funds.

Professor OKOGBULE, who is the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, made the observation in a presentation at the just concluded annual general conference of the Nigerian Bar Association.

The Professor at Law also took a swipe at the judiciary, stressing that the institution was fast loosing public confidence as the last hope of the common man.

Professor OKOGBULE said political interference was a major setback for the judiciary; as judges are not given free hands to do their work in line with the constitution.

He equally noted that some highly placed judges have compromised by dishing out conflicting judgment as well as helping to unduly prolong some cases through frivolous injunctions.

Furthermore; Professor OKOGBULE also observed that corruption is the system has helped the Boko Haram insurgency to fester in the North-East.

The Professor noted that funds and equipment meant for the fight against Boko Haram terrorists are often diverted for personal use, thereby sustaining the menace caused by the group.
