The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji LAI MOHAMMED said security agencies are already investigating the sources of fabricated materials that are being circulated through the social media and text messages.
In a statement, the Minister threatened that the authors of such messages should prepare to face the consequences of their actions; adding that the authors of such subversive messages feel threatened by the emerging order.
The Information Minister also said there was no iota of truth in the messages being circulated concerning the health of President MUHAMMADU BUHARI, stressing that the President was hale and hearty.
He equally condemned reports purporting that some state governors from the north held an emergency meeting in Abuja for a sinister plot.
The Minister noted that the naysayers have resorted to the use of ethnicity and religion as tools to divide Nigerians, overheat the polity and cause panic among the citizenry.
He said while opposition and criticism were all part of democracy, the crafting and circulation of subversive materials and scare-mongering are not.
