The State Government made the application after the officers pleaded not guilty to the five counts of murder, torture, conspiracy and unlawful infliction of injuries.
The trail Judge, Justice Florence Fiberesima ordered the prosecution counsel to make available all the necessary materials it will rely upon in the course of the trial and ordered that the suspects be remanded in office of the Special Anti Robbery Squad at Rukpokwu.
The matter was adjourned to the 20th of October, 2020 for commencement of trial.

On his part, the prosecution counsel, Chidi Ekeh also told newsmen why the Rivers state government took over the trial.
