IPMAN blames NNPC for lingering fuel scarcity

IPMAN alleged that the NNPC is prioritizing the supply of fuel to private tank farm owners, rather than Independent petroleum Marketers.

The Vice Chairman of IPMAN in Rivers State, Tochukwu Dominic, in an interview with Today FM’s Uchendu Ejiohwor, noted that IPMAN is supposed to get direct supply of petroleum products from NNPC at government regulated price of one hundred and forty-eight naira per liter and not from private tank farms.

Dominic explained that buying products from private tank farms leaves them at the mercy of private depot owners, making customers to suffer.

He further explained that the price of petrol will not reduce if members of IPMAN continue to buy from private depots.

Meanwhile; the Petroleum Product Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria has resolved to sell petrol to customers between two hundred and ninety naira and three hundred naira per litre, due to the difference in depot supplies.

The decision of PETROAN follows what it alleged to be the sale of petroleum products to petroleum marketers above the government approved price by private depot owners.

PETROAN therefore urged the Federal Government to increase its supply of petroleum products to its members, to address the persisting scarcity of fuel in Rivers State and the nation.

State Chairman of PETROAN, Francis Dimkpa while speaking during an extraordinary emergency meeting held at its Secretariat in Port Harcourt, stressed the need for the regulatory authorities to prevail on fuel depots to sell products at government approved price.

He further spoke against selling fuel to those he described as middle men rather than supplying directly to its members.

The State Chairman of PETROAN, while commending the Department of State Services for promptly intervening in most PETROAN matters, also called on the security agency to arrest touts whose activities endanger their smooth operations.
