Inter Miami Held to Goalless Draw by Cincinnati Without Messi

Inter Miami played out a goalless draw against FC Cincinnati in their Major League Soccer (MLS) match on Saturday night. The team was without star player Lionel Messi, who was suspended for missing the MLS All-Star Game.

The result leaves Inter Miami trailing behind Cincinnati in the Eastern Conference standings. Cincinnati, who had previously defeated Miami 3-0, maintained their position at the top of the table.

Inter Miami was also missing Jordi Alba, who was suspended alongside Messi. The suspension, enforced by MLS, drew criticism from Inter Miami manager Javier Mascherano, who questioned the league’s decision and suggested it was influenced by revenue considerations for home games.

Despite controlling much of the game, Inter Miami struggled to convert their dominance into goals. The match featured two penalty appeals for Miami that were denied and a disallowed late goal for Cincinnati.

Benjamin Cremaschi, filling in for Alba, stood out with a solid performance, but the team’s attacking play lacked the cutting edge typically provided by Messi.

Inter Miami will look to bounce back in their next match against Atlas in the Leagues Cup on July 30.
