Herbert Wigwe: Access Holdings confirms CEO’s death in helicopter crash

Wigwe died in a helicopter crash on Friday with his wife, son, and a former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, Abimbola Ogunbanjo.

The bank, in a statement signed by the Company’s Group Secretary, Sunday Ekwochi, confirmed the unfortunate incident.

They are reported to have been to Boulder City, Nevada from Palm Springs, California, on Friday night when the helicopter conveying them crashed at about 10 pm, near a small town in California’s Mojave Desert.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of the Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe along with members of the Wigwe family.

The President in a statement by his media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, described the helicopter crash as an overwhelming tragedy.

Other prominent Nigerians including former Vice President and the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, the Director General of the World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Executive Chairman of Geregu Power Plc, Femi Otedola amongst others have also poured in their tribute over the death of  Wigwe.
