Hearing has been fixed for 4th of November in a matter challenging the action by Rivers State Governor, NYESOM WIKE in restoring the rights and privileges of Sir CELESTIN OMEHIA as a former governor. Lawyers from the chambers of T.G.E. NWUGHA and Co are also before the State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt to challenge the action by Governor WIKE in disbanding the Rivers State Traffic Management Agency, TIMARIV, without following due process of the law.
The applicants argue that the restoration of Sir CELESTINE OMEHIA as a former governor is against the ruling of Supreme Court that removed him from office and made way for the inauguration of former governor, ROTIMI AMAECHI. They also want Governor WIKE to reinstate TIMARIV and pay the backlog of salaries owed the workers. Correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR reports that the matters had been fixed for mention today, but could not be taken because the presiding judge was not on seat. A lawyer from the chamber CHIGOZIE EMEM also explained the circumstances of the TIMARIV case while speaking with newsmen outside the court. CHIGOZIE EMEM is a lawyer from the chambers of T.G.E. NWUGHA and Co.
