Addressing newsmen in her office at the INEC Secretariat on Aba Road, GESILA KHAN said the three Administrative Secretaries deployed to Rivers State are meant to give support because of the volume of work to be done. Contrary to insinuations about setbacks to operations at the INEC office in Rivers State; the Resident Electoral Commission said work has been going on without interruption since the officers were sent from the headquarters. Our correspondent reports that GESILA KHAN declined to talk about her ordeal with the Department of State Security Service, as well as reports of alleged funds traced to her personal bank accounts.

GODSTIME ORLUKWU who is the Secretary of the Media and Publicity Committee of the APC, said GESILA KHAN is a victim of her own devices which led to her run-in with the DSS last two weeks. He maintained the DSS stance that the Resident Electoral Commissioner was never detained by the DSS, but that she was invited for questioning. The APC spokesman said the actions of GESILA KHAN constituted serious threat to the security of Rivers State and Nigeria, for failing to comply with orders of the election tribunals for the release of election materials. He wandered why INEC national headquarters in Abuja would send a task force to Rivers State to deliver the materials as ordered by the tribunals, if the REC had complied with the directive.
