A member of Onelga Security Peace and Advisory Committee in Rumuekpe, Isa Muhammad who spoke to Today Fm after they visited the scene of the incident said the victims died from smoke from a generator.
Muhammad said the manager of the hotel took the generator inside while it was still on.
He said neighbourhood woke up yesterday to the bodies of the three persons who had lodged in the hotel including the manager of the hotel while the other victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
When Today FM contacted the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Egbeda Community in Emohua, he confirmed the incident and disclosed that the owner of the hotel has been invited for questioning.
