Gani Topba Says No Protest Can Halt Oil Resumption in Ogoniland

Gani Topba, leader of the Conscience of Ogoni People, has stated that no amount of blackmail or protest will stop the resumption of oil activities in Ogoniland.

In an interview with our correspondent, Topba emphasized that the people of Ogoni have already submitted their demands through a report presented to President Bola Tinubu by the Ogoni Dialogue Committee. He stressed that what the Ogoni people are now awaiting is the swift implementation of these demands, rather than further agitations.

Topba also called on the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) to immediately begin large-scale training programs for Ogoni youth in the oil industry. He argued that such initiatives would ensure that local communities benefit directly from oil production in the region.

His remarks underline the Ogoni leadership’s focus on practical engagement and capacity building as key to leveraging oil resources for local development.
