The immediate past Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo, has denied reports that he urged President Bola Tinubu to distance himself from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Ihunwo described the publication as misleading political propaganda, insisting that he remains aligned with the political direction of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and is committed to the Rainbow Coalition.
In a statement, the former council chairman said the publication was an attempt by political opponents to create division within the coalition and disrupt the political reconciliation in Rivers State.
He urged members of the public and media organisations to disregard what he described as sponsored reports intended to create confusion over his political position.
Ihunwo said his political allegiance remains firm, adding that he would continue to work with members of the Rainbow Coalition and support candidates endorsed by Governor Fubara.
His clarification follows reports published on September 21 alleging that he had called on President Tinubu to distance himself from Wike.
The former council chairman had, in August, publicly said he was supporting the Rainbow Coalition and President Tinubu’s 2027 bid, citing Governor Fubara’s call for political reconciliation and peace in the state.
