Reports say the strikes were launched from France’s aircraft carrier named Charles de Gaulle.
The AFP news agency reports that a number of Rafale fighter planes took off from the carrier early today.
The report also quoted an officer on board, who said the planes would take part in an attack on Mosul, which is a stronghold of Islamic State in Iraq.
The Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier was sent to the Middle East region earlier in September.
