Ikiriko had claimed in a media briefing in Port Harcourt that Governor Fubara had directed the creation of a vigilante group in both Ahoada West and Ahoada East, asserting that this initiative originated from local government chairmen in collaboration with traditional institutions due to rising insecurity.
However, Reason Onyia, former Commissioner for Urban Development and Physical Planning in Rivers State, criticized Ikiriko’s statements in an interview with Today FM.
Onyia, described Ikiriko’s allegations as unfounded and defamatory, noting that calling the Governor a criminal and an anarchist was inappropriate, highlighting Governor Fubara’s peaceful and calm demeanour.
Today FM reports that Onyia warned of potential legal action if further insults are directed at the Governor, emphasizing the importance of respect in political discussions.
