Reports say the blaze at the City Market destroyed the livelihood of its many traders who sell mainly second-hand clothes, electrical appliances, hardware and food.
The BBC quoted a police spokeswoman ESTHER KATONGO and Lusaka Mayor WILSON KALUMBA saying the authorities have started investigating the cause of the fire.
