The Presidential Task Force is to propose measures that would ensure a steady flow of produce to the market and reverse the price increases.
Vice President YEMI OSINBAJO constituted the committee during the Federal Executive Council meeting at the State House in Abuja in his capacity as Acting President.
Professor OSINBAJO expressed concern at the inflationary rates of food prices, explaining that the Task Force would explore options to promote availability and affordability of food items to Nigerians.
He equally gave the Task Force seven days to report back to the Federal Executive Council on its findings and proposals.
Members of the Task Force include the Minister of Transportation, ROTIMI AMAECHI; Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief AUDU OGBEH; Minister of Finance, KEMI ADEOSUN and Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, OKEY ENELAMAH.
Others are the Minister for Water Resources, SULEIMAN ADAMU, and the Minister of Labour and Employment, CHRIS NGIGE.
Representatives of the Offices of the Chief of Staff to the President and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals are also on the Task Force.
Details of the outcome of the Federal Executive Council were contained in a statement released by LAOLU AKANDE, who is the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Vice President.
