The Minister of Health, Professor ISAAC ADEWOLE said government is inching closer to complete eradication of polio in the country through the support of international partners.
Professor ADEWOLE gave these indications during an event in Abuja to mark this year’s World Polio Day, stressing that government was committed to reduce the risk of circulation of the virus by closing the remaining immunity gaps?.
The Minister assured that eradicating polio was within reach and would be one of the greatest public health achievements in history.
Meanwhile; the World Health Organisation, WHO, which was represented at the polio awareness event in Abuja, promised increased support to the Nigerian government by ensuring that vaccines are available to protect vulnerable people against preventable diseases.?
