Speaking during a sensitization and engagement forum held in Gokana Local Government Area, the Minister of Environment, Mohammed Abdullahi asked for a template for engagement with the communities where the power project will be sited for smooth operations.
The Minister who was represented by the Project Coordinator of HYPREP, Ferdinand Giadom pleaded with the communities in Ogoniland not to engage in unnecessary communal disputes, chieftaincy tussles, petitions, and squabbles over the location of project.
On his part, the Gbenemene of Tai Kingdom, King Godwin Giniwa pleaded with youths in Ogoniland not to vandalize the power project during or after construction.
Today FM’s Preye Izogu reports that traditional rulers, House of Assembly members from Ogoni extraction and other stakeholders were all present at the event.
