During the meeting, leaders from the region called on the African Union to help ensure that upcoming elections in East African sub-region are fair and peaceful.
The high-profile meeting was attended by Ethiopian Prime Minister HAILEMARIAM DESALEGN, Kenyan President UHURU KENYATTA, Ugandan President YOWERI MUSEVENI, as well as the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Republic of Djibouti and Sudan’s ambassador to Somalia, MAHBOUB MOHAMED MAALIM.
According to a communiqué released at the end of the one day summit, the heads of state renewed their commitment to war-torn Somalia by ensuring a credible and inclusive electoral process.
