Customers groan over Overbilling for electricity

Customers of the PHED are accusing the company of ripping people off by giving them outrageous bills that do not tally with the amount of electricity consumed monthly.

Some of the aggrieved residents in Rumuaholu, a section of the Choba extension and Rumuekini, told Today FM’s Ifunanya Obeme-Ndukwe, that the PHED is unfaithful with power supply but faithful in giving bills.

A customer accused the PHED of refusing to access her home for accurate billing, despite several letters written to their office.

Another resident is appealing for a meter to be installed in every home, for consumers to regulate their electricity consumption.

Meanwhile, a resident of SARS road Rukpokwu, Jehovah Nissi Street, opposite PHED office, alleged that the PHED is asking customers in the area to pay one point seven million naira, for their transformer that was vandalized.

The PHED has refused to make an official comment, despite several efforts by our correspondent to reach out to the Corporate Affairs department of the company.
