Governor WIKE said the amnesty programme of the state government is aimed at improving the capacity of distressed youth in the state.
The State Governor called on parents, guardians and community leaders to prevail on young people under their care to drop arms and embrace peace in the interest of the state.
Meanwhile; various cult groups and criminal gangs operating within communities in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State have surrendered up to fifty seven assorted weapons to the Amnesty Programme Committee.
The largest collection of forty six locally made guns was turned in by the DeyWell cult members in Etche, with fifty members coming forward to embrace amnesty.
The reception ceremony at the headquarters town of Okehi also featured members of Deybam cult group in Obibi community led by SAMUEL CHIKE who surrendered seven Dane guns, one pump action gun, one pistol, two axes and one cartridge.
Also, a three man gang of criminals from umuechem led by THANKGOD OKOCHA submitted one pump action.
