The drivers told Today FM that the price of ticket had been raised from one hundred to two hundred naira without prior notice.
In an interview with Today FM’s correspondent, the drivers disclosed how the hike has caused additional financial strain on them, adding that the harsh economic situation in the country will not allow them afford the current price.
They also reported incidents of molestation and embarrassment by the task force official in Obio-Akpor L.G.A, calling for the new price to be reversed.
On his part, the State Publicity Secretary of the Drivers Welfare Club of Nigeria, Christopher Ezeali, explained that while the drivers adhere to government regulations, they are subjected to multiple taxes and bullying, vowing that the group will resist any hike in the prince of ticket by agents in the local government.
