This comes after authorities in Baghdad deployed troops towards the region, and subsequently taking control of some areas, including oil fields.
The United States government has expressed concern about the hostility and called for dialogue as the best option to defuse tensions.
Tensions heightened in the region after people of the autonomous Kurdistan Region voted overwhelmingly for independence in a referendum last month.
But Iraqi Prime Minister HAIDER AL-ABADI said the referendum was unconstitutional and demanded for it to be annulled.
However; the Kurdistan Regional Government insisted it was legitimate and called for dialogue.
