CHARLTON BOSS PRAISES OKONKWO AS ‘EXCELLENT SHOT STOPPER’

Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones has described Nigeria international goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo as an excellent shot stopper following his arrival at the Championship club.

Okonkwo joined Charlton on a season-long loan from fellow Championship side Wrexham. Jones said the goalkeeper had impressed him with his performances, including two outstanding saves against Charlton last season.

The manager also praised Okonkwo’s pedigree and experience, saying he is looking forward to working with the Nigerian. The 24-year-old goalkeeper has two caps for Nigeria after making his international debut during the 2026 Unity Cup.

Okonkwo was instrumental in Wrexham’s back-to-back promotions before helping the club compete in the Championship last season. His move to Charlton is expected to provide him with regular playing time as he continues his career in the second tier of English football.
