Burkina Faso extends military rule by five years

In an approved new charter, chairman of the organizing committee of the national dialogue process, Colonel Musa Dialo said the duration of the transition is fixed at sixty month from July, 2024.

The new charter was signed during a two-day national dialogue to bring back civilian rule in the country.

The military seized power in 2022 during a political violence and had promised to hold election in July 2024 to restore civilian rule.
