Buhari to participate in debate at UN general assembly

and endless red tapes slowdown the UN systems and make them less effective.

But beyond bureaucracy, the new UN envisaged by the Secretary General is that which places the people high on its value scale.

In addition to changing the rules, United States President DONALD TRUMP wants to see a UN that delivers on its original mandate.

The United States President is attending the United Nations General Assembly for the first time since he took office earlier this year.

Nigeria’s President, MUHAMMADU BUHARI is also attending the UN General Assembly with other world leaders.

President BUHARI arrived in New York in the company of Governor ABDULAZIZ YARI of Zamfara State, Governor DAVID UMAHI of Ebonyi State Governor, and Governor ROTIMI AKEREDOLU Ondo State.

In an earlier statement; the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, FEMI ADESINA said the President would participate in the General Debate, which is based on the theme “Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet.”

President BUHARI’s other engagements include participation at the welcoming reception and a bilateral meeting with the UN Secretary General, ANTONIO GUTERRES.

BUHARI is also scheduled for a lunch meeting with President DONALD TRUMP of the United States of America, along with other world leaders.

On his way back, President BUHARI would transit through London
