Buhari commends police on discovery of illegal rehabilitation centers in the north

 

The President whose response was contained in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, GARBA SHEHU, noted that such arrests are in line with his government’s commitment to human rights and dignity of the citizens regardless of their age, religion and ethnicity.

Stated that no responsible government would tolerate the existence of the torture chambers and physical abuses of inmates in the name of rehabilitation, he commended the Nigeria police for the discovery of what he termed child-theft racket in Kano State and fake correctional centres in Kaduna and Katsina states.

 

President BUHARI also appealed to members of the general public to remain vigilant and assist security agencies in crime prevention and control by reporting suspicious and criminal activities around their communities, just as he pledged his committment to supporting the police in the effective discharge of its duties through proper funding and motivation of its personnel.
