The men, who are all Brazilians, were also convicted for using the internet to promote the Islamic State militant group.
The ringleader identified as LEONID EL KADRE DE MELO was given fifteen years in prison, while the other men were jailed for five to six years each.
They were arrested shortly before the beginning of the Rio Games, in August, after the American FBI alerted the Brazilian authorities about the plot.
The defence lawyer for the ringleader said his client was on hunger strike, as the matter is expected to go on appeal.
