Our correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA reports that the latest development is due to annual vacation embarked upon by judges across the nation, with the case adjourned to 15th September.
Justice HILLARY OSHOMAH of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt adjourned the arraignment of the INEC officials following an application by the defense counsel, WALE BALOGUN, notifying the court that the matter was not urgent.
Speaking with newsmen thereafter, the Prosecution Counsel, KAYODE ALILU said the trial of the INEC officials would have continued if the charges were not amended.
On his part, the defense counsel, WALE BALOGUN said that the application to step down the matter until after the judges resume from vacation does not mean his team was not ready to defend the accused persons.
You will recall that the twenty-three INEC officials were slammed with ten counts on bribery to the tune of over three hundred million naira.
They are alleged to have received the bribe from officials of the Rivers State Government.
