The budget expenditure provides for the completion of Phase Three of the Lagos-Kano rail line, which covers the Kano-Kaduna segment, as well as the Calabar-Port Harcourt coastal railway project, with extension to the Onne Deep seaport.
In his presentation; ROTIMI AMAECHI pledged the commitment of the Federal Government to the implementation of the railway modernization projects with greater vigour.
AMAECHI told members of the Senate Committee led by Senator GBENGA ASHAFA that his ministry was implementing government policies on land transportation in compliance with international protocol and conventions.
In his opening remarks; Senator ASHAFA assured of the resolve of the Senate Committee on Land Transportation to provide the required support to enable the executive arm of government achieve its objective for a better land transportation system.
Senator ASHAFA also promised that the Committee would thoroughly review the financial proposals for the incoming fiscal year in a bid to curb wastage and improve efficiency.
