A meeting has been called in Saudi Arabia for opposition groups in Syria. The move is intended to unify Syria’s fragmented opposition ahead of possible peace talks. The meeting will bring together armed and political factions, in a bid to create a common position from which to negotiate with the government of President BASHA AL-ASSAD. The meeting is in response to demands by world powers meeting in Vienna who want formal talks to begin by January.
