Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on residents to remain united, peaceful and committed to the service of God for the continued development and prosperity of the state.
Governor Fubara made the call during an inter-denominational church service held at the Cathedral Church of Saint Paul, Rebisi, Port Harcourt, to commemorate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
Represented by his Deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu, the governor urged Rivers people to pray for enduring peace, unity and unwavering commitment to the development of the state.
He said continued dedication to God and unity among the people would contribute significantly to the state’s development and human prosperity, while praying for God’s continued protection and blessings upon Rivers State.
In his sermon, the Most Reverend Blessing Enyindah, Dean of the Church of Nigeria, Archbishop of the Province of Niger Delta and Bishop of Ikwerre Diocese, urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, saying God has not forgotten the country despite its challenges and setbacks.
Drawing from Isaiah 49:14-15, Archbishop Enyindah said the biblical assurance of God’s unfailing love and remembrance remains relevant to Nigeria.
He urged Nigerians to examine their character, promote honesty and integrity, improve productivity and contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.
